New Hong Kong Restaurant: Authentic Chinese Cuisine in Hobart

The man at the front desk was very welcoming, a great high energy that carried through my day! Food was amazing pork BBQ melted in the mouth, lo mein wasn't greasy, seasoned to perfection. Definitely can tell they care!

Mr. Pete runs the best Chinese restaurant in NWI, hands down. My family and I have been going to this restaurant for over 15 years and New Hong Kong never fails to impress. Whether in house dining or delivery, the food is always piping hot and delicious. The special combination meals are a great deal, and the teriyaki beef,chicken wing, and pot sticker appetizers are amazing. Mr. Pete, you have given Hobart an awesome gift with your business. I wish you many more successful years and thank you!

Called to place my order. Picked my order up. Was greeted by the owner. A very nice and very genuine good person. Food was great as always. This place is my go to for shrimp fried rice and other great dishes. Quick service.

My workplace in Hobart always orders from here and I realized that I never have given a review until tonight when I ordered Chinese in my hometown. It failed in comparison. Peter is a gem and is always so kind on the phone. I have gotten a variety of options over the years and have never once been disappointed. The crab rangoon is the absolute best and is a MUST. The Singapore noodles are perfection and one order lasts for a three day lunch. (Which is exciting knowing you have leftovers waiting for you to devour the next day). Thank you Peter for such a fine establishment and I will make sure to continue to support.

Absolutely a great choice! We stopped in for dinner and everything was superb. We ordered the BBQ ribs, General Tso’s, beef teriyaki sticks, and the Hong Kong fried rice—every single item hit the spot. The portions were huge, and the pricing was very fair for the amount of food you get. Even though they were busy, the staff was efficient and took great care of everyone. definitely a hidden gem in Hobart!

First time trying this restaurant. We ordered from the lunch menu. Our meals came with hot tea, soup, and egg rolls. My wife was not a fan of the egg drop soup but my wonton soup was good. We both loved the egg rolls! My wife ordered chicken egg foo young which she really enjoyed! I ordered General Tso's chicken which was very good. The chunks of chicken were larger and more tender than I've had at other Chinese restaurant. It had just a little heat to it so I feel anyone could eat it without a problem. The fried rice was very good as well. Better than most restaurants we've been to. We will certainly be going back!

Our favorite Chinese restaurant! The owner and all the staff are super kind! The chicken fried rice is so good as well as the sweet & sour chicken. I do want to speak to whoever was complaining their hot & sour soup was too spicy and made them change it and now it doesn't taste the same...shame on you! It is literally in the name that the soup is hot (aka spicy) and this traditionally is a spicy soup. Simply do not order it if it is too spicy for you. I LOVED that soup, it was not that spicy, and now it's not the same. I hope they change it back, but until then I will probably not order it sadly. Also highly recommend eating in there as it all tastes even better when eaten there! Gave all 5 stars, can't recommend this place enough and planning to go possibly tomorrow, just sad about the soup.

New Hong Kong is exactly what I’ve been looking for (and we're willing to drive 45mins to eat here.) The food is outstanding and tastes just like Chinese takeout food used to—full of flavor, fresh, and comforting in that classic way that is so hard to find nowadays. On top of the incredible food, the service was perfect. Every single staff member I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. I can't recommend this place enough.
